  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Tottenham will have to pay a compensation fee of £10m to complete the signing of Thomas Frank as their new manager from Brentford, according to The Telegraph. The two clubs have been in contact over the weekend to discuss the terms of the deal, but the Bees are insistent on receiving a chunky sum to part with Frank, who took them into the Premier League and has made them tough opponents for any side in England's top flight.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Frank is said to be keen on replacing Postecoglou, who was fired due to Spurs' lowly finish of 17th in the Premier League despite leading them to glory in the Europa League. The 51-year-old is hopeful of bringing his backroom staff from the Gtech Community Stadium to north London as part of the move.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Despite Tottenham's turbulence in recent years, Brentford have only beaten the Lilywhites once in the nine fixtures Frank has presided over. That came in May 2023 as Bryan Mbeumo netted twice in a 3-1 away victory.
