Thierry Henry hints his coaching career could be over as Arsenal legend turned CBS pundit makes 'I'm not at that level' admission

Former Gunners star Henry has managed Monaco, the Montreal Impact, France's Under-21s, and the French team at the 2024 Paris Olympics. But the 47-year-old has now said it would have to be a "stupidly" good role for him to stop punditry and go back into the dugout, while expressing concerns about returning to that way of life.

When asked if he would coach again, Henry said on the Stick to Football podcast, brought to you by Sky Bet: "It would have to be something stupid [good] for me to stop what I’m doing right now, and the balance that I have. What do you have as a coach to protect you once you’ve signed? You need to protect yourself before and I’m not in a situation where I can pick and choose where I can go, I’m not at that level. I’ve analysed the life that I have now and need to ensure that I don’t make a mistake not only for me, but for my family. Before the Olympic Games, because I didn’t think about what I just said, I would have taken anything because I needed to prove to myself that I could lead a team."

Like with many top footballers, Henry has not been as successful as a coach as he was a player. His win rate at Monaco and Montreal was 20 and 31 per cent, respectively, and while he had success with France's younger sides - albeit with a smaller sample size - questions remain about his suitability as a manager.

Henry, who retired from football in 2014, will continue his punditry work with CBS Sports but many will be interested to see if the former Barcelona man will get back into management in the future.
