  • Messi rejected a cameo on CBS
  • Won't share screen space with Carragher
  • Henry came up with a hilarious reaction after the reveal
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

CBS Sports' show host, Kate Abdo, lifted the curtains on Carragher's spat with Messi and revealed that the Argentine declined to make a cameo appearance as he did not want to share screen space with the former Liverpool midfielder, even after he picked the 2022 World Cup winner over Cristiano Ronaldo and hailed him as the greatest of all time. Abdo then also reminded Carragher that Messi had earlier called him 'a donkey' after the pundit criticised the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner for choosing to join Paris Saint-Germain, whereas, Ronaldo chose to ignore him in the same show during a Champions League game while the Portuguese star was at Manchester United.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

However, Carragher refused to back down and humorously alluded to Messi's unwillingness to appear alongside him as a "claim to fame." He then went on to question whether the crowd would prefer his analysis or the presence of the football icon on CBS. Although the crowd backed Carragher, Abdo did not believe them and suggested that the studio audience was lying.

Nonetheless, Messi's recent impact on Inter Miami and American football, notably leading his team to the US Open Cup finals and securing their first-ever Leagues Cup victory, would likely make CBS more interested in having Messi appear on their broadcast.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MESSI?

Messi will certainly not make an appearance on the show any time soon as the Argentine is enjoying a well-deserved break from football after the November international break. He will be back in competitive action in February 2024, when the new MLS season kicks off.
