WHAT HAPPENED?
According to Mundo Deportivo, Roberto was approached by Saudi Arabian second division side Al-Qadisiyah with a lucrative offer, but the Spain international reportedly rejected the move. Qadisiyah, who are eyeing promotion to the Saudi Pro League next season, plotted an ambitious move to rope in the versatile Barcelona player but he turned them down citing personal reasons.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Roberto's current deal at Barcelona expires in the summer. Xavi had advocated a contract renewal for the player in the past but with the Blaugrana manager himself leaving the club at the end of the season, it seems unlikely that the 32-year-old player will sign a new deal.
