  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The former United captain tore into the current side for their failure to act upon a boost of momentum brought in by a new head coach with fresh ideas. The Portuguese boss has suffered six defeats already in his short time in charge, four of them coming in the last four games. He will be desperate for his side to finally respond on Sunday with United fans already fearing the worst.

  • WHAT KEANE SAID

Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane said: "If you look at the stats, my goodness, they are so bad. Obviously, the new manager has come in and there has been no response from the players which is a big concern. You look at the evidence over the last month or two and even previously, and you ask yourself, 'How can Manchester United even come here [to Anfield] and get a result?'"

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

United will need a huge performance if they are to steal any points away from Anfield on Sunday. Liverpool have lost just once this season and look imperious at the top of the Premier League with a five-point lead over Arsenal with two games in hand. The Red Devils were able to upset Manchester City last month, but Sunday represents an even larger mountain to surmount.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MAN UTD?

With the game confirmed to be happening despite the poor weather conditions, United travel to Liverpool having been playing with fear and angst, according to their manager. Amorim has also refused to rule out the possibility of the Red Devils getting relegated.
