Roma set to beat Borussia Dortmund to Wolves forward as personal terms agreed

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Serie A side have offered the 23-year-old a five-year contract worth €2.5 million annually. While Dortmund had also reached an agreement with Silva, Roma’s late push and the player’s preference to move to Italy have shifted the momentum. The only hurdle now is an agreement on a transfer fee, with Silva having just one year left on his deal at Molineux. The Premier League club is demanding a base fee of over €25 million (£21.5m/$29m) for the striker, but Roma are hopeful of arranging a loan with an option to buy.

Silva arrived at Wolves in 2020 from Porto for a club-record €40m (£34.5m/$47m) fee, but has since struggled to settle in the Premier League. After scoring four goals and providing three assists in his debut season, the Portuguese forward spent the last three campaigns out on loan at Anderlecht, PSV Eindhoven, Rangers, and, most recently, Las Palmas, where he enjoyed his best year to date with 10 goals and three assists.

An unhappy Silva has been pushing for a move away from England for some time. Roma see him as a long-term attacking option as they look to rebuild their squad. For Wolves, this could be the final chance to cash in before he leaves on a free next summer.

Borussia Dortmund had named Wolves forward Fabio Silva as their No. 1 transfer target, according to BILD. However, the board was also aware they would face tough competition from teams like Villarreal, Real Sociedad, RB Leipzig, and AS Roma, despite initially being in pole position to land the 23-year-old’s signature.

Roma will now look to finalise talks with Wolves over the transfer structure, aiming to complete the deal before the end of the window. Dortmund, meanwhile, may be forced to turn their attention back to Jadon Sancho, with Borussia Dortmund players reportedly trying to convince the boardroom to launch an offer to facilitate the Manchester United outcast’s return.
