Suarez will remain a key part of Inter Miami's ambitions as the 37-year-old Uruguayan striker signed a fresh deal that will see him spend the next season at the Chase Stadium along with Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba and others. THE BIGGER PICTURE

Suarez played a critical role in Inter Miami’s remarkable 2024 season, helping the club secure its first-ever Supporters’ Shield. The team broke the MLS single-season points record (74), solidifying its dominance during the regular season. However, despite their success in the regular season, Miami faced disappointment with an early playoff exit after going down to Atalanta United.

  • WHAT SUAREZ SAID

Expressing his enthusiasm, Suarez said, “I’m very happy and excited to continue for another year. Being here with this incredible fanbase, which feels like family to us, is truly special. Hopefully, next year, we can bring them even more joy.”

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Suarez’s extension also coincides with a Barcelona reunion in Miami, as his former teammate Javier Mascherano was recently appointed the head coach.

    WHAT NEXT?

Before joining Inter Miami, Suarez spent two seasons in South America following a decorated career in European football. Between 2006 and 2022, he starred for top-tier clubs such as Ajax, Liverpool, Barcelona, and Atlético Madrid. His tenure at Barcelona was particularly prolific, as he formed a legendary attacking trio alongside Messi and Neymar, winning numerous titles, including the Champions League. Internationally, Suarez retired earlier this year as Uruguay’s all-time leading scorer.
