Kylian Mbappe to link up with Mason Greenwood?! Getafe post hopeful reaction to PSG superstar's transfer bombshell

It has been reported that Mbappe has officially informed Paris Saint-Germain that he will leave this summer as he has decided not to trigger the one-year extension clause in his contract. The striker will hit free agency in June and the prospect of signing the 2018 World Cup winner without paying a lofty transfer fee is a lucrative option for several clubs. Although Real Madrid are considered to be the favourites to land Mbappe, fellow Spanish rivals, Getafe, couldn't resist reacting to the news on social media with a photo of the forward in their home jersey.

Inspired by Spanish journalist, Josep Pedrerol and his infamous ticking clock, Getafe shared the picture with a caption that read: "Tic, tac… 🐢".

Mbappe had earlier revealed that if he left PSG, it would be on amicable terms and his decision would "protect all parties". It is believed that the forward is ready to forego €80 million (£69m/$86m) loyalty bonus he is due the club to alleviate the financial setback of the Parisians.

It is understood that Real Madrid have already tabled a contract to Mbappe but the financial terms are less attractive when compared to their previous offer in 2022. It remains to be seen if the 25-year-old ultimately ends up at the Santiago Bernabeu to conclude a long-protracted transfer saga.
