'Ivan Toney will most likely be sold' - Brentford ready to let star striker join a 'top team' amid Arsenal & Chelsea transfer links, confirms Thomas Frank

The Brentford manager admitted that it will be difficult for the club to hold on to a player like Toney in the summer as several top clubs will be interested in signing him. The striker will also have only a year left on his existing contract.

Speaking to Tipsbladet, Frank said: "It’s quite obvious that Ivan Toney will most likely be sold in the summer. It can be expensive to sell your best player, but on the other hand, I also know that by the summer, he’ll only have a year left on his contract with us. We also know what he’s worth. I don’t think there are many strikers in the world who are better than him right now. He’s a really good striker who is in his prime footballing age. Personally, as a coach, I would prefer to keep Toney, but one day it could be fun to see him in a top team. This winter, we actually had no bids for him, but it would surprise me if there aren’t a lot of clubs interested in him."

Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea have been long-time admirers of the English striker. While The Bees did not receive any offer for Toney in the recently concluded January transfer window, they are expecting bids for the player when the summer window arrives. Since coming back from his suspension, Toney has appeared in two Premier League games for his club and has scored twice.

Frank's side, who are still reeling from a 3-1 home defeat to Manchester City, will be next seen in action in the Premier League on Saturday as they face Wolves away from home.
