Faultless record sees Wrexham hit 49-year high for Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney – with only ‘decent teams’ able to derail another promotion charge in League One

The Red Dragons have had cause for celebration on a regular basis since welcoming Hollywood co-owners to their helm in 2021. Back-to-back promotions have been enjoyed, with the history books being rewritten en route to League One.

Phil Parkinson’s side are now flying high in the third tier, as they continue down a path that may one day lead to the Premier League. There has been talk of European football football potentially returning to SToK Racecourse at some point in the near future.

For now, Wrexham are focused on picking up domestic points on home soil. They have been doing that on a regular basis, with a 4-1 mauling of Northampton last time out – as Ryan Barnett starred on the flanks – seeing them preserve the only unblemished home record in League One while picking up maximum points in their own backyard in a fifth fixture at the start of a season for the first time in almost half a century.

The Red Dragons sit second in the table, with assistant coach Steve Parkin saying of another potential promotion charge: “We know we are in a division where the quality is better, we know we are in a division that's going to be tough right to the very end but we have got confidence in our own ability. We know we have got a long way to go but to be 10 games in and be sat where we are is very good for everybody at the football club.

“It is important we keep our feet on the ground and it is important that we keep doing what we are doing and work hard on the training ground. We have got a good group of players who motivate themselves as well which is really important and let's see how far it takes us. The key thing for us is that we never take our foot off the gas with the way that we work with the players and if that is good enough for us to get where we want to be, then great. If not, it is going to take some decent teams to beat us, especially here.”

Wrexham will be back at the Racecourse for an EFL Trophy clash with Wolves’ U21 side on Tuesday, but a League One meeting with Lincoln that should have taken place in North Wales next weekend has been postponed due to international call-ups in the Imps’ squad.
