Dier joined Bayern Munich on a £3 million loan for six months from the Lilywhites, with the possibility of extending the spell for an additional year in the summer. Dier will partner up with Kane, his former Spurs teammate, who has adapted to life in the Bundesliga like a duck to water and leads the Bundesliga in goals scored with 21 strikes to his name.

Dier made 365 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions, tallying 13 goals. Dier played a key role in getting Spurs to the UEFA Champions League final in 2019, when they were defeated by Liverpool, as well as the finals of the EFL Cup in 2015 and 2021. However, he fell down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou, especially after Spurs completed the signing of Radu Dragusin from Genoa.

The Englishman missed out on the squad for Bayern's first match of the year against Hoffenheim but could be involved when they take on Werder Bremen on January 21.
