    WHAT HAPPENED?

Paris Saint-Germain reached the semi-finals of the Champions League after defeating Arsenal 3-1 on aggregate. They will face Italian giants Inter Milan in the final of the competition. Former Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi was full of praise for PSG coach Luis Enrique for the way he has constructed his squad.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Paris Saint-Germain seemed to have lost the jewel in their crown when Kylian Mbappé decided to move to Real Madrid on a free transfer. But PSG's acquisitions of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha have ensured the club has not missed a step in their pursuit of European glory. These transfers highlight how Enrique, with the support of Sporting Director Luis Campos, shared a unified vision to elevate PSG to the top, something for which Matuidi praises the Spanish tactician.

  • WHAT MATUIDI SAID

Matuidi praised Enrique when he said, "He’s already proven it with Barcelona and the Spanish national team. Now we see it with PSG. He is a great coach who knows how to build a squad."

He also showed respect for Inter, stating, "They are a very strong opponent, a well-organised Italian team capable of scoring many goals, as shown in their win against Barcelona."

Giving his prediction on the game, Matuidi added, "It will be a great football match, and hopefully a victory for Paris."

WHAT NEXT FOR ENRIQUE AND PSG?

With the title wrapped up a while ago, coach Luis Enrique can afford to rest his main stars when they host Auxerre in the final game of the season. He will have his eyes on the Coupe De France and Champions League finals, scheduled for 24 May and 31 May respectively, giving him a chance to win the second treble of his career.
