Michael Uchebo has emphasized that he returned to the Nigeria Professional Football League to reshape his career and have another opportunity to go back to Europe.
Uchebo was at the Brazil 2014 World Cup with the Eagles under late Stephen Keshi and he has decided to return back to the same club from where he moved to VVV Venlo in 2010 after his continued stay in Europe hit a snag.
The striker featured for the Flying Antelopes on November 20 in a Super Cup fixture against Lobi Stars and did exceptionally well even though his team was narrowly beaten 1-0 by the Pride of Benue.
He said afterward that he came back home to play for Enugu Rangers in order to rebuild his career as he does not want to be found roaming the streets of Europe without doing anything when the energy and the desire to excel are still very much at the optimum in him.
“Yes, I am a player of Enugu Rangers and I am happy about the move because it has afforded me the opportunity to return back home and help put my career back on track,” Uchebo told Goal.

“It has been a torture last two years or thereabouts for me but I am grateful to God that I am still alive. I am thankful to the management of Rangers for agreeing that I return to the club. I am highly indebted to them. They have given me the platform to have my belief and confidence back and I am not going to disappoint them.
“We didn’t have the best of start with the loss to Lobi Stars in the Super Cup but with my training together I am very confident that we are going to give a good account of ourselves in the Caf Confederation Cup game against Defence Force of Ethiopia. This is not the time to relax. We must do all we can to gladden the hearts of our fans and our sponsors.”
The former Cercle Brugge (Belgium) and Boavista (Portugal) attacker noted that his experience in Europe, especially with Boavista, has made him become wiser as a player and that he has returned to Enugu Rangers to help them do well in the domestic competitions and in the Caf Confederation Cup too.
“It wasn’t the best of a period at Boavista despite the good start I had with them. The coaches refused to field me for a long time and I was not paid my wages. It was frustrating,” he continued.
“I am happy that I have been given a lifeline with Enugu Rangers and I hope to grab it with both hands. I am grateful for the opportunity and I say a big thank you to the management of the club. I hope to repay them with goals and disciplined performances.”
