KP Boateng rues Frankfurt's missed opportunity to qualify for Europa League

Eintracht Frankfurt ace Kevin-Prince Boateng is crestfallen by their inability to secure a Europa League qualification spot following a 1-0 loss to Schalke 04 on Bundesliga final matchday on Saturday.

The Eagles were undone by Guido Burgstaller's 26th minute strike which condemned them to their 13th defeat of the season.

The result left Niko Kovac's outfit eighth on the log, two spots down the qualification spot.

"We're disappointed," Boateng said, as reported by his club's official website.

"We wanted to win or at least pick up a point but it just wasn't to be.

"We can't let ourselves be too downbeat, though, because we've had an outstanding season and can still qualify for Europe next term.

"We battled hard but Schalke were a goal better than us."

Boateng, who joined Frankfurt last summer, made 31 Bundesliga appearances, involving 27 starts and six goals, this campaign.

The Eagles are the Ghanaian’s fourth German club following spells with Hertha Berlin, Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04.
