Elmina Sharks part ways with coach Amissah

Elmina Sharks have announced the departure of head coach Kobinah Amissah from the club.

The 48-year-old, who had few months left on his contract, was offered a one-year extension in January but he requested for five years.

And according to Sharks, since Amissah's request was turned down, he was showing signs of lack of commitment amid preparations for the 2017-18 season, leading to the mutual termination of his contract.

“Elmina will like to announce the mutual termination of contract with our former coach Kobinah Amissah," a club statement read.

"After negotiations in January, he was given a new offer and he accepted the offer in principle, pending the determination of a request he made seeking an extension of the contract term from the offered one (1) year to five (5) years.

“Coach Amissah was duly paid in January but has still not shown a commitment to his new role. With the contract of the new role unsigned, and noting the inconveniences being caused with the delay, the new offer is revoked, and the old contract terminated,” the statement added.

Amissah guided Sharks to the premier league last season as they finished ninth on the log in their maiden campaign.

Goal understands that Yaw Acheampong is likely to be confirmed as new coach.
