    WHAT HAPPENED?

    Those who have enjoyed watching Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds attempt to take Wrexham up the English football pyramid in their Emmy-winning hit 'Welcome to Wrexham' are in luck. A new docuseries will follow Liga MX side Necaxa after Wrexham's co-owners purchased a significant stake in the club in April.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    McElhenney and Reynolds aren't alone in their new Mexican venture. Necaxa can also count Mesut Ozil, Eva Longoria, Justin Verlander, Odell Beckham Jr. and Shawn Marion as investors, with the new series produced by Longoria's Hyphenate Media Group. The actress will executive produce the show alongside McElhenney and Reynolds.

    FX said the show will follow Necaxa "as they strive to reclaim their place as one of Mexico's top teams, while their Mexican-American owner Eva Longoria tries to breathe new life into the team by enlisting the help of her high-profile friends including new co-owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds," perPro Soccer Wire.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MCELHENNEY AND REYNOLDS?

    The Wrexham co-owners have done a wonderful job since arriving in Wales in 2021, guiding them to back-to-back promotions. They face their toughest test yet in the upcoming campaign when they take on the likes of Birmingham, Bolton and Huddersfield in League One.
