    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kinsky has joined Tottenham on a long-term contract running until 2031 from Slavia Prague, departing the Czech giants after only half a season as their starting goalkeeper. He had impressed on loan at Pardubice during the 2023-24 campaign, where he announced himself as one of his home country's top prospects.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Kinsky's arrival comes at a time where Spurs are battling an injury and illness crisis. First-choice stopper Guglielmo Vicario broke a bone in his ankle during their 4-0 win at Manchester City in November and will not return until February at the earliest. His deputy, 36-year-old Fraser Forster, was ruled out of Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Newcastle after falling victim to a sickness bug that has plagued the dressing room and he is a doubt to face Liverpool in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday. This meant third-choice Brandon Austin had to be drafted in for his debut against the Magpies, and he was named man of the match by host broadcaster TNT Sports for his efforts.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Kinsky shares the same name as his father, who was also a professional goalkeeper and notably was part of the Czech Republic's squads at Euro 2004 and the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

    WHAT NEXT FOR TOTTENHAM?

Ange Postecoglou could hand Kinsky his debut on Wednesday against Liverpool, with next Sunday's trip to non-league side Tamworth in the FA Cup also an option.
