  • WHAT HAPPENED?

With Hollywood co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney calling the shots, the Red Dragons have worked hard on assembling a squad that is competitive back in the Football League. They can, however, only register 22 players at any one time – excluding goalkeepers and those under the age of 21.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Phil Parkinson’s squad is already loaded with talent, while efforts are being made to further bolster the ranks. Wrexham are said to be open to bringing in a centre-half, in order to cover injuries, while another striker may be acquired to help fire them towards back-to-back promotions.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

According to The Athletic, those plans could lead to a number of departures as EFL registration rules need to be taken into account. Callum McFadzean, Billy Waters and Bryce Hosannah missed the squad cut earlier in the season and loans are an option there – with Waters having already left for Doncaster.

    WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?

Liam McAlinden is another that is free to move on, while club captain Luke Young is surplus to requirements after entering the final six months of his contract. If another forward can be found, then 21-year-old Jake Bickerstaff may be allowed to find the regular game time that his ongoing development requires outside of North Wales.
