Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang fell just short in the race to retain his Golden Boot, ending the campaign with 22 goals from 36 Premier League outings.
This replicated his tally from the 2018-19 season, and was only one goal fewer than Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy, who ended top of the pile with 23 goals.

Aubameyang’s tally is impressive considering the turmoil that Arsenal have endured this season, and he finished higher than the players with whom he shared the gong last term—Sadio Mane (18 goals) and Mohamed Salah (19).

Mohamed Salah was top of the pile from an African point of view in terms of assists, having registered 10 goals as Liverpool clinched the Premier League in some style.
While the Egyptian’s creativity was impressive—particularly considering he had a direct hand in 29 goals throughout the campaign—although he fell well short of Kevin De Bruyne and his 20 assists.

Assists

No African player received more bookings this term than Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Morocco international Romain Saiss.
The North African picked up 10 bookings during the campaign—averaging just under one every three games—which was only two fewer than Luka Milivojevic, of Crystal Palace, who topped the disciplinary charts.

Yellow cards

Unsurprisingly, this ranking is full of Manchester City players, with six of the top nine players in this category part of Pep Guardiola’s squad.
Ranked fifth among City’s stars, and eighth overall, Mahrez ended the season with a pass-success rate of 90.1 percent, putting him only a smidgen behind Rodrigo, who finished atop the rankings with 92.9 percent accuracy.

Pass accuracy

Little surprise here, Wilfred Ndidi again demonstrated that he’s among the finest tacklers in the division by averaging four successful retrievals per match.
It puts him second in the overall standings—behind teammate Ricardo Pereira (4.3)—and is evidence of the major impact he had for the Foxes as they spent much of the campaign nestled inside the top four.

Indeed, it was telling that there was a significant drop-off in the East Midlanders’ performances when the Nigeria international wasn’t present.

Tackling

Here, Adama Traore eclipsed the likes of Wilfried Zaha, Sofiane Boufal and Nicolas Pepe to register five successful dribbles—on average—per match.
It puts him atop of the rankings for the whole league—not just from an African point of view—and highlights what a sensational prospect he is when running at defenders, at pace, with the ball at his feet.

In the past, Traore has been criticised for lacking an end product, but that hasn’t been the case this season, as he ends the year with nine assists and four goals.
