Liverpool confident of wrapping up Florian Wirtz transfer quickly with contract 'done' as Bayer Leverkusen sensation informs current employers of desire

Per Fabrizio Romano, Wirtz has told Leverkusen that he wants to join Liverpool this summer. The midfielder has agreed on personal terms with the Reds and the English champions have now started to negotiate a transfer fee for the player.

Bayern Munich and Manchester City were also keen on signing Wirtz at one stage, however, reports emerged on Friday that they had pulled out of the transfer race seemingly giving the green light for Liverpool to move in on their target.

Per Sky Sports' Florian Plettenberg, Leverkusen are now working to complete the player's transfer swiftly and are waiting for the Reds' first offer. The former German champions reportedly want a sizeable transfer fee and a player from the English side, as they are looking to add a goalkeeper, a defender, a striker and a potential replacement for Wirtz.

Ahead of a busy summer transfer window at Anfield, the English champions will take the field one last time this season on Sunday as they face Crystal Palace at home.
