"Anyone who has a squad like England cannot play like Union Berlin," Kramer asserted.

Kane was also not spared from criticism. Although he scored the opening goal, his mistake led to Denmark's equalizer. Mertesacker questioned Kane's decision-making in the crucial moment and asked, "What is Harry Kane doing?"

The German defender emphasised the lapse in concentration that allowed Denmark to capitalize and added: "He's supposed to secure the balls up front and then he plays a ball like that at the back."

For Southgate and his England squad, the road ahead in Euro 2024 will require introspection and adaptation. Embracing a more dynamic and flexible approach could unlock the true potential of the team, enabling them to live up to the high expectations placed upon them.
