Barcelona set to beat Man Utd to Swedish teen sensation? Talks with midfielder Lucas Bergvall confirmed by Djurgarden sporting director

Barcelona have been linked with the 17-year-old Swede but Manchester United, Inter, Rennes and more are also reportedly keeping tabs on the midfielder. Now, Andersson has confirmed the Spanish giants have been in contact about the Swedish Under-21 international but stressed it is "not a negotiation yet".

He told Swedish publication Fotbollskanalen: "Yes, I can confirm that we have been in contact and in dialogue with Barcelona. But it's not a negotiation yet. There was some contact with Barcelona last week but this week we haven't spoken to them."

Bergvall is seen as one of Sweden's brightest young talents and a move to the mighty Barcelona would add credence to that view. He still has 18 months left on his contract and if he does go the Swedish side will try to get a good fee for him but when a club like Barca comes along it may be too good an opportunity to turn down.

The teenager scored two goals in 25 games last season. He joined Djurgarden from IF Brommapojkarna in 2023 and he plays alongside his older brother Theo Bergvall, 19, currently.

Djurgarden begin their 2024 season in February. By then, Bergvall could possibly be an incoming player for Barcelona.
