What James' potential transfer to Man Utd means for Real Madrid

ANALYSIS

It looks like time is up for James Rodriguez in Spain. The former Monaco midfielder has featured only sparingly over the past two seasons for Real Madrid and now seems set for a summer switch to Manchester United.

Ozil sets new creation record

The Colombian playmaker arrived in an €80 million deal after the World Cup in 2014, but after impressing under Carlo Ancelotti in his debut campaign, he has found life much more difficult since - first with Rafa Benitez and more recently with Zinedine Zidane.

James is rarely in the starting line-up for the big games when everyone is available and did not feature for a single minute in last season's Champions League final against Atletico at San Siro, nor in the Club World Cup showpiece versus Kashima Antlers in December, after which he hinted at a possible exit which now appears inevitable.

So where did it all go wrong for the South American? And what does the transfer mean for Madrid this summer?
