Double rounds are weird. They're a good thing in that lets Liga MX keep up its breakneck pace without totally ignoring international breaks like certain leagues just to the north. It's also a challenge, though, with managers having to decide which players they're going to hand a rest or ask to push through the acid burning in their muscles that comes from playing two games in four days.
So you always end up with some weird results, like Veracruz beating Pumas. It also is a prime opportunity to see some phenomenal goals. Goal rates the best scoring moves of every Liga MX matchday, and the midweek games produced a fine top three for us to enjoy before we start all over again in just a few days:
3. Diego Chavez (Veracruz) - 1-0 vs. Pumas

A Veracruz player in the Liga MX Goals of the Week is a rare sight indeed, but after the Tiburones Rojos' surprising win over Pumas it feels justified. It's not only because of the result, either. The young Mexican scored two goals in the first half to lift Veracruz to the victory.
His first goal was a nice bit of work, with Chavez toying with the offside line, then getting onto the end of a pass over the top from Carlos Esquivel. Instead of trying to blast it into the top corner, Chavez slips it between Alfredo Saldivar's legs to open the scoring and give Veracruz a big boost.
2. Mateus Uribe (Club America) - 2-1 vs Monarcas

Uribe scored twice in Las Aguilas' impressive win over Monarcas on Tuesday, and both were quality goals. The midfielder gets plaudits for this play, though, for the way in which he dances past the Morelia defense. The Colombian starts on the right wing, where he played most of the day Tuesday with Joe Corona further back in the midfield in the spot where Uribe typically features, and darts past one defender. A second comes out to challenge him and thinks he's in a good position to force Uribe to stop. Instead, he unleashes a shot that curls around the defender and just inside Sebastian Sosa's post.
1. Djaniny (Santos Laguna) - 3-1 vs. Leon

Djaniny can not stop scoring. This goal was part of a hat trick he scored against Leon on Wednesday to take his total to 10 goals in seven matches this season. This one is simply stunning.
He actually starts the play on the left, playing a one-two with Jonathan Rodriguez. When he gets the ball back, he moves forward past one defender, nutmegs center back Miguel Herrera (congrats on the midweek start, kid) and chips over Leon goalkeeper William Yarbrough. It was the meat of a hat trick sandwich the Cape Verde international assembled in eight minutes. It takes some of us at Goal longer to put together a ham and cheese. For this goal - and for the phenomenal performance - Djaniny has earned Goal's Liga MX Goal of the Week prize.
