<p>After Juventus' 3-0 victory over Udinese in Serie A in August 2023, Pogba underwent an anti-doping test and <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/juventus-midfielder-paul-pogba-failing-anti-doping-test/blt26a7f7b3be44e98e" target="_blank">was found positive for the prohibited substance DHEA</a>. The midfielder was slapped with a four-year ban from football but, following appeal, has <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/paul-pogba-juventus-midfielder-doping-ban-reduced-following-appeal/blt5e2f1cac38c2d0c4#cs7cfc6034c47516e9" target="_blank">had his ban reduced to just 18 months</a>. Returning from the ban will also bring a huge financial windfall for Pogba who, <a href="https://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Serie-A/Juventus/07-12-2023/pogba-la-strategia-juve-ipotesi-risoluzione-stipendio-al-minimo.shtml" target="_blank">according to <em>Gazetta dello Sport</em></a>, had been earning 'minimum wage' during his ban.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Pogba had been earning around €9 million per year at Juventus after joining as a free agent from Manchester United for the second time. However, despite the end of his ban, it is likely Pogba and Juventus will try to find a way to end <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/paul-pogba-sad-demise-timeline-manchester-united-drug-test-juventus/blt5832d67da1c98072" target="_blank">his unsuccessful return to Italy</a> early. Still only 31, Pogba will hope he can have at least one more spell at an elite club before hanging up his boots.</p>

<p>Once he has completed his time away from the game, Pogba will be desperate to get back on the pitch. First, the midfielder will have to come to some form of agreement with Juventus over his future at the club and Thiago Motta will have to consider if he wishes Pogba be part of his squad.
