Plateau United’s Raphael Ayagwa targets victory against Wikki Tourists

Plateau United’s Raphael Ayagwa has hinted that they are going into the midweek rescheduled league tie with Wikki Tourists with the maximum points on their minds.

The midfielder disclosed that a home win against their neighbours will help take them to second in the league table and also cut the gap between them and the current leaders, Lobi Stars to just three points.

“We are in dire need of the maximum points against Wikki Tourists because a home win will take us closer to the league title,” Ayagwa told Goal.

“We have had some not too impressive results this season but I believe that things have changed in the last three games which we have gone unbeaten. We are hoping to make it four against Wikki knowing that this will enable us to close the gap on Lobi Stars.

“We are trying to pick up our pieces after our unceremonious ouster in Africa and I believe that we can still make a good impression in the ongoing season if we are able to defend the league title we won last season. We have not written ourselves off and it is the reason we are doing everything possible to return to the top of the league table.

The former Lobi Stars player has scored four league goals and two in the Caf Champions League to help Plateau United go up to fourth in the league log with 28 points from 16 matches.
