Caf Confederation Cup preview: Petro Atletico look to reclaim limelight in Africa

After going down 2-0 in the first leg away in Zambia, eSwatini side Young Buffaloes would be looking to overturn the deficit against Zambian outfit Green Eagles.

The two sides meet at Mavuso Sports Center in Manzini on Wednesday.

Buffaloes coach Dominic Kunene has stressed the importance of hard work ahead of the encounter.

“Preparations are going well," Kunene was quoted as saying by Zambian publication Daily Mail.

“On Wednesday, we will work hard and 90 minutes will determine whether we prepared well or missed."

Kunene was in charge of Buffaloes earlier this year when they were knocked out of the Confederation Cup by Cape Town City in the preliminary round.

Elsewhere, Angolan giants Petro Atletico have what looks like an easy task on paper when they travel to Botswana to face Orapa United.

Leading by a healthy 4-0 scoreline from the first leg at home, only some epic collapsing would condemn Petro Atletico to the exit door from the competition.

The 2001 Caf Champions League semifinalists travel to Botswana without injured defender Mira who was replaced by Edy Afonso. Petro's Spanish-Brazilian coach Beto Bianchi has already set his sights beyond this preliminary round.

“The team is confident of qualification to the next elimination stage," Bianchi was quoted as saying by the Angola Press Agency.

Just like Orapa United, Liberian International Shipping & Corporate Registry FC (LISCR) face a monumental task of nullifying the 4-0 reverse leg defeat by Algerian side USM Bel Abbes.

LISCR will be at home in Monrovia but still overturning the 4-0 loss is a huge task.

In Bujumbura, it is back to square one for Vital'O who host New Star of Cameroon after the two sides drew 0-0 in the first leg in Douala.

Meanwhile, Malawian side Silver Strikers host Cercle Mberi of Gabon targeting to reverse the 1-0 defeat they suffered in the first leg away.

Now at playing in their own backyard, Silver Strikers are seeking to make full use of home advantage.
