Wrexham fan who yelled 'dirty English b*stards' at Tranmere supporters slapped with three-year football ban for 'racist' abuse

Red Dragons supporter Daniel Thomas Monk, 21, admitted to a racially aggravated public order offence at Wrexham Magistrates' Court on Tuesday. The incident in question dates back to Wrexham's clash with Tranmere at the SToK Racecourse on March 21. A court heard that Monk approached a group of Tranmere fans during said clash, calling them "dirty Scouse b*stards" before following up that abuse with "dirty English b*stards".

WHAT HAPPENED?

Monk was arrested at the scene after his insults were picked up on body cameras worn by police. That "racial slur", per the court's definition, earned Monk a three-year ban from all football matches as well as a £768 ($969) fine. Alex McKenzie, who defended Monk in court, expressed his client's remorse but claimed similar insults were hurled both by Monk's wider group and towards them by rival fans, per the <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-13267455/Wrexham-fan-21-handed-three-year-football-banning-order-racist-abuse-shouting-English-b-ds-rival-Tranmere-supporters.html?ns_mchannel=rss&amp;ns_campaign=1490&amp;ito=social-twitter_dailymailsport" target="_blank">Daily Mail</a>.
