Following their goalless draw at home against Rwanda’s Rayon Sports on Wednesday, Yanga have been placed in a tight spot in group D and they remain at the bottom of the table.
There is a lot of work to be done if the Jangwani outfit wants to progress from the group which also comprises the likes of USM Alger and Gor Mahia.
U.S.M Alger are currently top after accumulating four points from two games while Rayon Sports and Gor Mahia both have two points each and Yanga has one.

Obrey Chirwa’s poor form costing Yanga
With Amis Tambwe and Donald Ngoma sidelined through long term injuries this season, striker Obrey Chirwa’s poor form is a big reason for the recent Yanga barren run.

The striker has failed to score in his last eleven appearances in all competitions. The last time he scored was when Yanga played with Township Rollers in the CAF Champions League.
The Zambian had netted only 12 league goals and three in other competitions this season.
Chirwa is the only fit senior forward in the team and his lack of goals is affecting the team.
It is very clear that Yanga have hit hard times but if you watched some of their past matches you will agree that they have problems up front.
Chirwa’s drought can described in more than one way, firstly, it is because Yanga have missed some of their key players such as Ibrahim Ajib, Thaban Kamusoko and Papy Tshishimbi in some of the crucial matches.
This led to the lack of balance in the team especially when they are going forward something which has minimized the service to the striker.
Another reason is that Chirwa himself has failed to hold-up play when he receives the ball from the midfielders.
We all know that Chirwa can score goals there is no problem with that but when gets the ball he needs to bring his team mates into the game.
Yanga need a Head Coach immediately
There has been no strong reasons for the absence of Congolese Head Coach Mwinyi Zahera in the matches played since his arrival.
The lack of a Head Coach presence in games has affected Yanga in such a high magnitude that they are yet to win a game since George Lwandamina's departue.
After the match against Rayon Sports, caretaker boss Noel Mwandila also spoke of the same conceding that the club missing the guidance from a Head Coach has largely contributed to their current poor form.
With their next match coming after the World cup on July 18, Yanga need to use the time effectively to sort out the Head Coach position.
