WATCH: Young Portugal fan consoles tearful France supporter

The Euro 2016 hosts were thwarted in the final as Eder's extra-time goal delivered glory to the Seleccao but one youngster took time off from celebration to comfort an opponent


Portugal fans were jubilant on Sunday night as their team secured Euro 2016 glory after beating France in extra time in the final.

For all of the happiness on show among the Seleccao faithful, however, the locals at the Stade de France were in shock as their hopes of lifting the trophy on their own soil came to an end.

There was a touching moment in amongst it all, though, as one young Portugal fan spotted one of the French supporters in tears after the final whistle.

The boy took a moment to offer support to his fellow football fan and it was gratefully received as the two shared a hug despite being on opposite sides of the game.
