The on-loan Liverpool youngster scored his first goal to cap a late comeback by his side over the Colorado Rapids

Brooks Lennon couldn’t have picked a better time to open his account for Real Salt Lake.

The 19-year-old attacker, on loan from Liverpool, delivered a low drive from distance that proved the difference in RSL’s 2-1 victory over their Rocky Mountain rivals, the Colorado Rapids.

After taking the pass from Demar Phillips, Lennon weaved his way around multiple defenders and then used those Rapids players as a screen, sending his shot between them and past goalkeeper Zac MacMath.

That goal in the 88th minute capped a quick-fire double that took the visiting RSL side from 1-0 down to 2-1 up.

Kevin Doyle had given the Rapids the lead in the first half. However, a handball on the line in the 85th minute by Rapids defender Jared Watts resulted in a red card and penalty. Yura Movsisyan buried the penalty to level the score, setting the stage for Lennon’s winner three minutes later.

The win makes it two in two games for new RSL coach Mike Petke, who took over following Jeff Cassar's dismissal in March.

Lennon, who also was a key member of the U.S. under-20 side that won a CONCACAF title earlier this year, is on a season-long loan from the Premier League giant.
