The Blue Tigers kick-start their Asian Cup qualifying campaign with an away trip to Myanmar…

Stephen Constantine will hope his team put up a strong show on Tuesday as India take on Myanmar in a Group A tie for the 2019 Asian Cup qualification.

India are grouped alongside Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar and Macau as the world’s second most populous nation aims to make it into the continental competition in 2019.

A 9-1 loss to Myanmar in 1971 kick-started Indian National Football Team's descent: It's time to halt it

Last week India played  a friendly against Cambodia which they won 3-2 but their display left a lot to be desired. The midfield was completely overrun with Rowllin Borges and Eugeneson Lyngdoh not giving a good account of themselves especially in the first half.

Arnab Mondal certainly looks short on fitness while Indian strikers hardly posed a threat or two before the introduction of Jeje Lalpekhlua in the second half.

Constantine said,” Myanmar are definitely the favourites. Playing at home is always an advantage for any team. They have been together for some time and the familiarity with each other is so much beneficial when you take the field. They certainly have the advantage.

"They work very hard and love to press. When you combine with the two with the ability they have and add the crowd and atmosphere to it, the combination is just deadly," he added.

Can India put up a strong show against Myanmar and kick-start their campaign with flying colours or will it be Myanmar picking three crucial points on home soil?
