TEAM NEWS: Gotze dropped for Germany's clash with Slovakia

Julian Draxler starts ahead of the Bayern Munich midfielder, while Jerome Boateng has recovered from a calf injury

Germany manager Joachim Low has named Mario Gotze on the bench for his side’s Euro 2016 last-16 clash with Slovakia in Lille.

Instead, Julian Draxler takes an attacking place in a 4-2-3-1 formation and he will play alongside Mesut Ozil and Thomas Muller behind lone striker Mario Gomez.

Meanwhile, Jerome Boateng recovers from a calf injury to partner Mat Hummels in central defence.

Gotze failed to make his mark in the group stages as Germany progressed without ever impressing despite victories over Ukraine and Northern Ireland, sandwiched between a draw with Poland.
