Steve Mounie scored the matchwinning goal as Huddersfield Town defeated West Bromwich Albion 2-1 at the Hawthorns in Saturday’s English Premier League encounter.
The 23-year-old who is making his 19th top-flight appearance for the Terriers was on hand to help his side return to winning ways after suffering a 2-0 loss to Manchester United last weekend.
After the first half ended goalless, Rajiv van La Parra eventually broke the duck in the 48th minute when he fired home from Collin Quaner’s cross to register his fifth goal of the season.
Eight minutes later, Mounie scored his fourth goal in six games when he powered in a shot past goalkeeper Ben Foster after benefitting from Alex Pritchard assist.
Alan Pardew made three changes in an attempt to turn the table against their hosts with Chris Brunt, Jake Livermore and Oliver Burke coming in, in the 57th, 68th and 81st minute. The changes were immediately felt with Brunt providing the assist for Craig Dawson just seven minutes after his introduction.
However, West Yorkshire outfit held tight to the lead to secure their eighth Premier League victory this season.
