After just a single season at San Siro, the Portugal international will play the next term in Spain having failed to shine with the Rossoneri

Sevilla and AC Milan have reached an agreement that will see Andre Silva move to La Liga on a one-year loan deal.

The Portugal forward moved to San Siro last summer, but failed to establish himself as Milan endured yet another mediocre Serie A season in 2017-18.

Now, with Gonzalo Higuain arriving at the club to heighten the competition among the Rossoneri's forwards, Silva has opted for a move away from Milan.

Goal understands that the Andalucian team have agreed a loan transfer worth an estimated €5 million, with a purchase option also included in the deal.

Sevilla will have the opportunity to sign Silva on a permanent basis in return for a fee of €30m (£26.8m/$34.2m) prior to June 30 next year.

While his future remained up in the air, Silva was excluded from Milan's squad to face Real Madrid in Saturday's Copa Bernabeu.

Club sporting director Leonardo also stated publicly that the striker could leave San Siro: "The possibility of him leaving is there, we will have to see where and how."

Now both those questions appear to have been answered, as Silva gears up for a new challenge in Spain and the chance to start again after last year's abortive Serie A adventure.

The player scored a paltry two goals in 24 league games in 2018-19, although he fared better in the Europa League where his six goals helped the Rossoneri to the last-16 stage.
