Rivers United's Oche Salefu is loving life at his new club and has asserted that his first goal against Go Round in a league tie was special as it has made him to settle down quickly.
Salefu was called upon to take the spot kick awarded to the Pride of Rivers in the 81st minute and the former Remo Stars’ midfielder didn’t disappoint as he dispatched it perfectly for the only goal of the match.
He said in an interview that he won’t be carried away by his early season display as his desire is to ensure that Rivers United return to their enviable height of old.
“The goal I scored against Go Round was very important and special to me. It was my first goal and coming in the Port Harcourt derby made it more special. We needed the goal badly because we dominated the game deserved to carry the day,” Salefu told Goal.
“When we had the opportunity and I was told to take the spot kick, I was very calm and so many things were running through my head but definitely not missing the penalty kick. I struck it with precision and I was happy it went in.

“This goal will help me to settle down more to life in Port Harcourt and will make the fans to continue to love me the more. I appreciate the admiration for me since I came to the club and I will continue to work harder to ensure that I do not relax and just be comfortable with what I have achieved thus far.”
Salefu opined that Go Round gave them a tough time but that they were not too ambitious to beat them after they fluffed some of the chances that came their way and that it was this that gave them the encouragement to go in the hunt for the winning goal.
“Go Round are very good team and they showed from the beginning to the end that they are adjusting to life very fast in the premier league. They still have to work more on their self belief and confidence. They didn’t approach the tie as if they could shock us. They were not too adventurous.
“They have what it takes to remain in the topflight at the end of the season if they continue to work on their areas of weaknesses.
“We have put the game against Go Round behind us and are focused on our weekend league tie with Yobe Desert Stars. We know it is a long journey and so we are doing everything to ensure we do not come back empty handed,” he concluded.
Rivers United are 10th in the league standings with 10 points from seven games.
