PKNP FC became the first team confirm their quarter final ticket after they beat T-Team FC 4-1 in a later afternoon kick off started started proceedings for the day. Abu Bakar Fadzim's team are top of the table and cannot be caught by either of Pahang or T-Team. Kim Hyun-Woo, Shahrel Fikri, Hafiz Ramdan and Vincent Weigl all scored for the Premier League side who are showing that their league form is no fluke.

Meanwhile Negeri Sembilan produced a magnificent performance to hand Pahang a 2-1 defeat, joining PKNP in embarassing their more fancied opponents in the group. Heo Jae-Won's late goal was nothing but a consolation as Farderin Kadir and Khairul Anwar strikes in the first half was enough to give the Deers their first win in the group stage. The win also take Negeri Sembilan above Pahang in the group standings.

Perak was not going to allow PKNP to hog all the limelight as they too progressed to the next stage of the competition after a comprehensive 3-1 win over PKNS FC at Shah Alam Stadium. Mehmet Durakovic's decision to stick with his tried and trusted line-up paid dividends as the Bos Gaurus put in a polished performance with goals coming from Yashir Pinto, Nazrin Nawi and Gilmar Filho. PKNS did pull one back late on through Patrick Ronaldinho Wleh but it was for nothing as the Red Ants became the first team to be knocked out of this year's competition thus far.

In the group's other match, Felda United's 4-1 win over Kuala Lumpur (KL) doesn't mathematically guarantee their progression yet but it left KL needing a miracle, if they are the ones to go through. The City boys will need to win their last two matches with a minimum of 10-goals and hope that Felda doesn't pick up any further points in the group. Ifedayo Olusegen scored to accompany Thiago Augusto's hat trick as the Fighters condemned KL to their second loss in the group stage.

Over in Group C, plucky UiTM FC earned their first ever point in Malaysia Cup after recording a historic 2-0 win over Kelantan. The Premier League outfit defied the odds as Akanni Sunday grabbed a brace to ignite his team's chances of staying in the competition. The result meant that UiTM are only a win away from the coveted second spot in the group that could see them continue to make history.

At Hang Jebat Stadium, Melaka United went down to their second defeat in the group stage after they shipped six goal to Kedah in a 2-6 loss. Fakri Saarani, Sandro da Silva (2), Akram Mahinan and Ken Ilso all scored for Kedah while Azinee Taib and Fauzi Roslan scored for the home side. However, Akhyar Rashid will grab all the headlines after he notched his first ever goal for Kedah in the rout. The nippy forward is continuing his progress after an encouraging period with the Malaysia national under-22 side.

Like the two teams from Perak, Selangor also clinched a place in the quarter finals after they came from behind to beat Terengganu 3-2. Ismail Faruqi had put the home side ahead in the first half but two quickfire goals through Francis  Forkey Doe and Syahmi Safari saw the Red Giants leading 2-1 after the half time break. The Turtles thought they had secured a vital point when Tchetche Kipre equalised but Selangor had the last laugh as Rufino Segovia's injury time winner helped his team to earn all three points.

A rather strong Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) was made to work hard in Kuching but a goal in each half saw them eventually winning 2-0 against Sarawak. Ulisses Morais can be thankful for Mohammed Ghaddar and Safiq Rahim's efforts in a win that not quite confirm their ticket to the next round but it did strengthen their position in the group. Morais opted for unfamiliar strong line-up at the start but midway through the second half, was able to give Gary Steven Robbat his first taste of competitive football in 2017.
