Ogonna Chukwudi axed as Nigeria name final Africa Women Cup of Nations squad

Coach Thomas Dennerby has announced his final 21-player squad for the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations.

The Super Falcons are hoping to defend the title they won two years ago in Cameroon, but, they must negotiate their way past South Africa, Kenya and Zambia in Group B.

18-year-old Rasheedat Ajibade will be making her debut Women Cup of Nations appearance alongside Kazakhstan based Chinwendu Ihezuo.

The attacking line-up is completed by Desire Oparanozie, Asisat Oshoala, Anam Imo, Chinaza Uchendu and Francesca Ordega.

Dennerby takes just four specialist midfielders to Ghana – Amarachi Okoronkwo, Rita Chikwelu, Ngozi Okobi and Halimat Ayinde.

The Swede has opted to go with Glory Ogbonna, Sarah Nnodim, Osinachi Ohale, Josephine Chukwunonye, Onome Ebi, Faith Michael and Ngozi Ebere for his defensive options.

Nigeria square up against South Africa in their opening game on November 18 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
