Nigeria v Argentina Betting Tips: Latest odds, team news, preview and predictions

Despite a catastrophic showing in their last game against Croatia, Argentina head into their final game of Group D with hopes of progressing to the last 16.

The 3-0 defeat to Croatia was a severe blow to their confidence, as well as their goal difference, yet victory over Nigeria could still see Jorge Sampaoli's side make the knockout stages.

Nigeria currently occupy second spot in Group D behind Croatia and a draw for the Super Eagles would almost certainly be enough to see them through to the next round.

Latest odds

Argentina are still looking for their first win at the World Cup and dabblebet offer them at 4/7 (1.57) to pick up three points.

Nigeria meanwhile are priced at 5/1 (6.00), while a draw which would eliminate the Albiceleste is available at 3/1 (4.00)

Team news

There have been plenty of reports of unrest within the Argentina camp and who Sampaoli choses to start on Tuesday remains uncertain.

Gonzalo Higuain, Angel Di Maria, Paolo Dybala and Ever Banega all started the Croatia game on the bench, so the manager has plenty of options should he wish to change things.

Preview

These two sides have met at every World Cup this century apart from South Africa 2010, making this a familiar fixture for both sides.

Argentina have won each of those three meetings by a solitary goal, and with so much riding on Tuesday's game it could be another close encounter.

The South Americans also know that goal difference may play a part in their potential qualification, so they will have to tread a fine line between going for goals and being caught on the break as they were by Croatia.

Tips and predictions

Argentina's defence inspires precious little confidence and while Nigeria are not the most thrilling attacking side, the price of 10/11 (1.91) for both teams to score looks highly appealing.

For higher odds, backing both teams to score and either to win at 13/8 (2.38) should offer some real value.
