New head coach Steve Komphela retains Bloemfontein Celtic technical team

Despite reports that players have boycotted training this week due to unpaid salaries, Seema said they are preparing well for the new PSL term

Bloemfontein Celtic assistant coach Lehlohonolo Seema has expressed delight following an opportunity to work with new coach Steve Komphela.

The Lesotho legendary defender has also rubbished reports that the former Kaizer Chiefs boss was going to bring his own assistant to Phunya Sele Sele.

Seema, the long-serving Siwelele defender said he is glad to work under the former Free State Stars mentor and revealed that their pre-season is going well as they assess their squad.

Despite reports that the Mangaung-based club is set to be sold, Komphela was unveiled as their new mentor after Serbian coach Veselin Jelusic resigned from his post a few weeks ago.

Reports emerged before the end of the 2017/18 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season that the Serb and some of the players were owed salaries as well as signing-on fees.

Meanwhile, reports surfaced this week that suggested that some of the players were once again not paid their salaries prompting them to stage a protest on Monday and Wednesday.

Nonetheless, the former Orlando Pirates defender confirmed that Komphela will retain the technical team which comprises of former skipper in John Maduka, ex-goalkeeper and now keeper coach Simon Gopane and Seema ahead of the new 2018/19 PSL season.

“There are no changes really, I’m still here as part of the technical team along with Maduka and Gopane,” Seema told Vodacom Soccer.

“Stories that the new coach is coming with his own people are not true and it was never mentioned to us by our management,” he refuted.

“We are grateful with this opportunity given to us by the club to continue learning from coach Komphela as young coaches,” he said.
