Migne eyes Ghana scalp in WC qualifiers in Brazzaville

Congo coach Sebastien Migne believes they will defeat Ghana in the second leg of the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers despite having an unrealistic chance to pick the ticket from Group E.

The Red Devils, despite claiming their first point against Ghana in Kumasi last week, sit six points behind leaders Uganda, and are now looking forward to the return leg with Ghana as groundwork for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, according to Migne.

"My players played to instructions in the first game and I felt that we should have won the game looking at the way we dominated the first half. In the second half, Ghana came back stronger and gave it their all and managed to get a goal and a point," he said at a pre-match conference.

"We have seen how they play and we've prepared for them. We know we are out of contention for the World Cup, so we are using this game to rebuild the team for the qualifiers to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Cameroon."

"Hopefully, we will get our first win of the qualifiers against Ghana on Tuesday," he added.

Ghana arrived in Brazzaville on Monday without the Ayew brothers, John Boye and Harrison Afful due to injury issues.
