Manchester United vs Southampton Betting Tips: Latest odds, team news, preview and predictions

Manchester United meet Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are unbeaten in 14 domestic matches since the Norwegian replaced Jose Mourinho in the Old Trafford dugout. Furthermore, United have lost just one home match inside 90 minutes against English opposition this season.

The task facing Ralph Hasenhuttl's men, then, is certainly daunting. Saints, though, should be in confident mood after moving out of the bottom three with a win against Fulham in midweek.

Latest odds

Unsurprisingly, United are William Hill's 1/2 (1.50) favourites to maintain their run of fine form with victory at Old Trafford.

The visitors are a 6/1 (7.0) chance to further ease their relegation worries with a win. William Hill offer 16/5 (4.20) that Hasenhuttl's charges pick up a point from their trip to Manchester.

Team news

Manchester United have a considerable injury list with which to contend. Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard all missed the trip to Crystal Palace in midweek and remain out.

Nemanja Matic, Phil Jones and Anthony Martial are also sidelined. Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia are long-term absentees. Marcus Rashford, though, may be fit enough to start after coming off the bench at Selhurst Park.

Danny Ings and Mario Lemina are doubtful for the Saints. Michael Obafemi will be sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.

Solskjaer's solid side

United have conceded just one goal in their last five fixtures against English opposition. As such, William Hill offer 11/10 (2.10) that the men from Manchester keep a clean sheet this weekend.

The same firm offer 7/5 (2.40) that United win without conceding - a selection that would have landed in six of the last nine wins that Solskjaer's men have recorded.

Saints to strike

Hasenhuttl's men, though, have found the net in all but two of their last 14 fixtures in all competitions. It is worth noting that during that spell, Southampton have managed just two clean sheets.

William Hill offer 17/20 (1.85) that Saturday's contest features goals at both ends. The same firm go 6/5 (2.20) that there are at least three goals - with both teams finding the net.

Prediction

Real value could lie in backing Manchester United to lead at half-time against the Saints on Saturday. Solskjaer's men have held a half-time advantage in 11 of their last 12 victories in all competitions.

William Hill's 21/20 (2.05) quote for the hosts to be in front before the break, then, could prove popular with punters.
