Russia face further Euro sanctions after fans set off flare inside stadium

Russia could face further disciplinary action from UEFA after fans set off a flare inside the Stade Pierre-Mauroy during Wednesday's defeat to Slovakia, but they will not be expelled from the tournament over the incident.

Leonid Slutsky's side were beaten 2-1 to leave them bottom of Group B, while supporters in the Russian section set off a flare after Denis Glushakov pulled a goal back with 10 minutes remaining.

Russia have already received a suspended disqualification for the violence in Marseille last week and any further crowd disturbance will result in their elimination.

"Russia's suspension purely relates to fighting - flares are subject to a separate disciplinary case if reported," a UEFA spokesman told Goal.

Under UEFA regulations, "It shall be strictly forbidden to do any of the following inside the Stadium: a. throw objects or liquids of any kind, particularly in the direction of another person or in the direction of the area around the pitch or the pitch itself, B. start a fire, or let off or launch fireworks, flares or other pyrotechnics."
