Kompany won Anderlecht job after six-hour meeting


Vincent Kompany was chosen as the new player-coach of Anderlecht after one six-hour meeting with the club, according to technical director Frank Arnesen.

It was announced last Sunday that the Manchester City captain would return to his childhood club in the close-season after 11 years at the Etihad Stadium.

Arnesen has revealed the process behind hiring the Belgian centre-back and believes the 33-year-old can restore the club to their former place as the country's leading side citing Kompany's leadership qualities and philosophies as essential.

Atletico exodus continues as Juanfran announces departure


Juanfran said an emotional goodbye to Atletico Madrid as he prepares to leave when his contract expires in June, claiming he "came a Viking and I leave as an Indian."

Atleti arranged a ceremony where the experienced right-back made a departing speech and was hailed by president Enrique Cerezo before being gifted a signed shirt.

"These are my last few days at Atletico, I hope to return soon, this is my home. They have been wonderful years, the best of my career," Juanfran said.

The acquisition of Frenkie de Jong is likely to put Ivan Rakitic’s place at Barcelonaunder threat, Goal understands.

The 18-year-old was part of England’s Under-17s World Cup winning team in 2017 and ended last season making 22 appearances for the Royals in all competitions as they avoided relegation from the Championship.

Guardiola to Juventus reports 'nonsensical' - Man City board member


Manchester City board member Alberto Galassi has dismissed reports Pep Guardiola has agreed to join Juventus as "nonsensical".

The Serie A champions are looking for a new coach to replace the departing Massimiliano Allegri and Guardiola has been linked with the job, with recent rumours saying a deal has been struck.

But Galassi insists there is no truth to the claims and is sure Guardiola will stay at City.

Routledge signs Swansea extension


Wayne Routledge has signed a one-year contract extension with Swansea, it has been confirmed.

The winger has been with the Welsh side for eight years and his deal was about to extend this summer.

But he has been persuaded to stay on for another season after making 26 appearances in 2018-19 in the Championship and FA Cup.

Bayern chief Hoeness confirms Sane interest


Bayern Munich are working on a deal to sign Manchester City forward Leroy Sane, president Uli Hoeness has revealed.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a departure from City after playing a reduced role in their treble-winning campaign, starting 30 of his 47 appearances in all competitions. 

German champions Bayern have emerged as the top candidates to sign Sane after seeing star attackers Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery leave and Hoeness has since clarified that the Bundesliga champions are advancing on their interest.

Camacho has one year left on his contract after joining the club in 2016 following his release from Manchester City's academy.

The Reds want £10 million ($13m) from Camacho, but are prepared to retain him for a year a risk losing him for nothing if that fee is not offered.
