Rafael reveals United ambitions


Former Manchester United right-back Rafael da Silva has said he'd like to return to Old Trafford as a scout - or even a coach.

The Brazilian who played 109 times for the Red Devils in a seven-year spell with the club, is currently playing with Lyon in France.

“I’ve always said that I wanted to work for Manchester United as a scout or something. This could happen – I think I might start doing my coaching badges.,” the 29-year-old told Stretty News.


New England consider Vermaelen


New England Revolution of MLS are considering a move for out of contract defender Thomas Vermaelen reports MLS Multiplex.

The Revs have kept just two clean sheets this season and they view the former Arsenal and Barcelona man as an answer to their defensive woes.

Veramelen, who turned down a chance to join Vincent Kompany at Anderlecht as a player-coach this summer, has missed 40 games in the last two years through injury.

No Newcastle approach for Bruce


The Sheffield Star says Sheffield Wednesday have not been formally asked by Newcastle for permission to speak with manager Steve Bruce.

Bruce has been installed as favourite to replace Rafael Benitez at St. James' Park by bookmakers.

But the former Manchester United defender remains the Owls' boss, returning to England on Wednesday after training with the Championship side in Portugal

Lopez to Roma confirmed


Roma have announced the signing of goalkeeper Pau Lopez from Real Betis.

The 24-year-old makes the move to Serie A after 100 appearances in La Liga.

The 'keeper signed a contract until 2024 for a fee of €23.5m (£21m/$26m).


Koscielny mulls over Ligue 1 offers


Laurent Koscielny is considering a number of offers from LIgue 1 clubs as he is unsure of his place in Arsenal's long-term plans.

The France international centre-back's contract with the Gunners expires next summer, and The Mirror believe he wants long-term security that Arsenal are unwilling to guarantee.

That security may come from Bordeaux, who have made an offer to the 33-year-old, believed to be a two-year contract with an option for a third.

Lyon and Rennes are the other French clubs the paper identifies as having an interest in the stopper.

Arsenal may keep hold of their former captain though, as they look to offload other defenders.

Roma to make bid for Alderweireld


Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld interests Roma, according to The Mirror.

The central defender has a release clause in his contract, which expires next summer, allowing him to be sold for £25m ($31m) after July 26.

The paper suggests Roma's best hopes of landing the Belgium international may rest on sending highly-rated Nicolo Zaniolo the other way.


United told Longstaff is not for sale


Manchester United have been rebuffed by Newcastle in their attempts to sign Sean Longstaff, according to a Sky Sports reporter.

Kaveh Sohlekol says high-level talks between the clubs have taken place, but the Magpies told United the 21-year-old wasn't for sale.

Longstaff recently signed a new deal to keep him at St. James' Park until 2022.

Sheffield United in for phenom Bayliss


The Sun reports that Premier League newcomers Sheffield United have joined the race for Coventry City's Tom Bayliss.

The Blades are in a battle with Aston Villa and West Brom to capture the highly rated 20-year-old from the League One club.

Bayliss, a midfielder, has already made 60 appearances for Coventry.

Zaha camp doubt Arsenal can afford him


Sources close to Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha have told Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol they are unsure if Arsenal can afford to sign him this summer.

The Gunners have had a £40m offer rejected by the Eagles, who want a fee closer to £100m.

Unai Emery's team have offered players in part-exchange, but Palace are not interested in such a deal, the reporter states.

Lyon sign Kone to replace Mendy


Lyon have announced the signing of Youssouf Kone from Lille the Ligue 1 club said on Twitter.

The left-back wiil replace Ferland Mendy who left for Real Madrid on July 1.

Kone, a Mali international, established himself as first-choice after Christmas last season as Lille finished runners-up to Paris Saint-Germain in the French top-flight.

Lyon have not disclosed a fee, but reports say it is around €9m (£8m/$10m).

FC Porto have confirmed the signing of Luis Diaz from Colombian side Junion.

The Colombian winger has earned eight caps by age 22, and scored his first international goal in March against South Korea.

He was a member of Colombia's Copa America squad, where he made one start and two substitute appearances.



Pogba to Real Madrid on hold


Paul Pogba's potential move to Real Madrid is on hold as the club looks to offload a number of players to pay for the deal.

James Rodriguez, Gareth Bale and Isco will need to be sold to finance a move for Pogba as Madrid will need to raise funds to continue the club's big-spending summer.

Thiago Motta has left his post as Paris Saint-Germain's U-19 coach, the club announced.

Motta began running the team in June 2018 after ending his playing career.

The former midfielder played for the club from 2012-18 after previously featuring for the likes of Barcelona and Inter.

Inter's Piero Ausilio is in London to meet Manchester United to begin talks surrounding Romelu Lukaku, according to Sky Sports.

Lukaku is widely expected to move on from Manchester United this summer with varying reports linking him with an Old Trafford exit.

And Antonio Conte's Inter are seen as the favourites to sign him as talks begin in London on Wednesday. 

De Jong had 'dream' of Arsenal move


Frenkie de Jong has admitted that he had dreamt of someday playing for Arsenal before joining Barcelona.

The midfielder is officially joining up with the Spanish giants this summer, but the former Ajax star admits that he always expected to move to Arsenal before heading to Spain.

Divock Origi has signed a new long-term deal with Liverpool, ending speculation about a move away from Anfield.

The Belgium international, who scored goals in the semi-final and final during the Reds run to the Champions League title, extended a cotract due to expire in 2020.

Goal understands there is no release clause in the 24-year-old's new deal, as the club view him as key to their future plans.

Rivierez moves to SM Caen


Two-time Ligue 2 champion defender Jonathan Rivierez has moved to Stade Malherbe Caen from Metz, the French club have announced.

Caen were relagated from Ligue 1 last season with Metz heading the other way, and the 30-year-old Rivierez represents the fifth signing of the summer for the Normandy team.

Rivierez can play at right-back and in the centre of defence, and his versatility was attractive to his new club, says head coach Yohann Eudeline.

Konsa to make Villa switch


Brentford centre-back Ezri Konsa is to become Aston Villa's seventh signing of the summer, according to The Telegraph.

The 21-year-old will reconnect with Villa manager Dean Smith, who signed him for the Bees from Charlton Athletic last season, before taking over at Villa Park.

Konsa, who has seven caps for England Under-21's, will join for £12m ($15m), a fee which triggers his release clause from the Championship club.

Rangers set to sign Helander


Sweden international central defender Filip Helander is on his way to Rangers from Bologna, according to Aftonbladet.

The 26-year-old will move to Ibrox for a fee around £4m, with final details being hammered out between the clubs ahead of a medical in Glasgow for the 26-year-old.

Helander, who has 10 caps for his country, made 60 appearances over three seasons with the Serie A side.

Mata reveals why he signed new United contract


Manchester United's Juan Mata has opened up as to why he signed a new contract at Old Trafford.

The Spain international was out of contract at the end of last season but signed a two-year deal to remain with the Red Devils, despite rumours linking him with Barcelona.

"There were many [reasons to stay], the first thing is the feeling of belonging to this club, it's something special, unique," Mata told MUTV.

Jony Rodriguez arrives in Rome


Malaga winger Jony Rodriguez has arrived in Rome ahead of an expected transfer to Lazio.

The club tweeted a picture of the 28-year-old in a Lazio scarf at Fiumicino airport in the Italian capital.

Jony spent last season on loan at Alaves, where he notched 12 assists, third-most in La Liga last season.


De Rossi to retire after Roma exit


Sky Sports is reporting that former Roma captain Daniele De Rossi is to retire after the Serie A club let him go after last season.

De Rossi played 18 seasons with Roma, and other clubs including Fiorentina, AC Milan and Boca Juniors were interested in the midfielder, who was thought to want to prolong his playing career.

Sky says that, after a period of contemplation on holiday, the 35-year-old will forego joining a new club to concentrate on his coaching career.

Gomez set to sign with Valencia after fishing trip


Maxi Gomez is set to sign with Valencia following reported interest from West Ham, according to Noticias Celta.

Gomez is currently on a fishing trip with friends and is unable to receive the documents to finalize the transfer.

As a result, there have been delays, but a deal is expected to be finalized on Wednesday. 

Lemina admits desire to leave Southampton amid Manchester United links


Mario Lemina has been linked with a move away from Southampton, and the midfielder has confirmed that he is hoping to leave the club. 

Lemina has been linked with Manchester United in recent weeks and he admitted that he would prefer to remain in the Premier League.

Gourcuff drawing interest from third-division side


Yoan Gourcuff as been out of contract since January, but is now drawing interest from a French third-division side, according to Ouest France.

The former Milan and Lyon midfielder has been contacted by US Concarneau as the midfielder has been a free agent since leaving Dijon in January.

The 33-year-old has not yet responded to the club's advances but is believed to be considering retirement.

Leicester are pushing to sign Dennis Praet from Sampdoria, according to Sky Sports.

Praet is a former team-mate of recent Leicester signing Youri Tielemans at Anderlecht and has also drawn interest from AC Milan among others.

The Belgian midfielder would cost around £15 million ($18.77 million).

Manchester United have identified Tottenham's Christian Eriksen as the man to replace Paul Pogba if he leaves Old Trafford this summer.

As the Evening Standard reports, the Frenchman is hoping to secure a move to Real Madrid in the transfer window, while Eriksen has also expressed his desire to leave north London.

The Dane is top of United's list to fill Pogba's boots, but Tottenham will demand around £80 million ($100m) for his services.

Sheffield Wednesday have announced the signing of Julian Borner from Arminia Bielefeld.

The 28-year-old has spent his entire career to date in Germany and helped Bielefeld finish seventh in Bundesliga 2 last season.

Derby have set their sights on signing Everton midfielder Kieran Dowell, according to the Daily Mail.

New Rams boss Phillip Cocu is thought to be a huge admirer of the England U-21 star and wants to beat Huddersfield to his signature in the coming days.

Dowell spent last season on loan at Sheffield United, racking up 16 Championship appearances in total during their promotion run.

Lukaku exit would be a huge loss for Man Utd, says Kleberson


Romelu Lukaku leaving Manchester United this summer would be a huge loss for the club, according to Kleberson, but the former Red Devils midfielder "understands" why he is considering a move.

The 26-year-old admitted earlier in the year that he would like "to play in Serie A sooner or later", which has led to a reported approach from Inter during the current transfer window.

It has been widely reported that former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte wishes to link up with the Belgium international at San Siro, after succeeding Luciano Spalletti in the hot seat last month.

Wolves sign Dai from Oxford


Wolves have announced the signing of Oxford United midfielder Tsun Dai for an undisclosed fee on their official website.

The 19-year-old has signed a two-year deal at Molineux with the option of a further year.

Dai spent last season on loan at FC Utrecht, recording two assists in 12 appearances for the Dutch club.

Celta Vigo's Jensen nears Brentford switch


Celta Vigo Mathias Jensen is on the verge of completing a £3.5 million ($4m) switch to Championship club Brentford, according to the Evening Standard.

The 23-year-old is in advanced talks over becoming the Bees' fourth summer signing, with an official announcement expected in the coming days.

Jensen joined Celta last summer but failed to earn a regular place in the team, finishing the 2018-19 campaign with just six La Liga appearances to his name.

Arsenal midfielder Krystian Bielik is wanted by a clutch of Championship clubs on a season-long loan deal, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Bielik impressed on loan at Charlton last season, as well as for Poland at the European Under-21 Championship this summer, and is expected to be sent out on loan again in the coming campaign.

Brentford, Derby, Middlesbrough and West Brom are all showing an interest in signing Bielik.

Napoli are interested in signing Valencia forward Rodrigo, according to the Corriere dello Sport.

With the Serie A side keen to bring in James Rodriguez from Real Madrid, another raid on La Liga is being considered.

Rodrigo has also been linked with a move to the Premier League amid reports Valencia are prepared to listen to offers for the 28-year-old.

Fenerbahce have dismissed reports that they will try to sign Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil during the summer transfer window.

Amid suggestions Arsenal will try to offload Ozil, the 30-year-old has been linked with a move to Turkey, but Fenerbahce say they cannot afford to sign the former Germany international.

Mikel Arteta and Patrick Vieira are not interested in becoming Newcastle United’s new manager after speaking with former Magpies boss Rafa Benitez, reports The Sun.

Benitez left Newcastle at the end of June, and Manchester City assistant manager Arteta and Nice coach Vieira are reportedly on the list of potential replacements.

Bayern weigh up Mandzukic return


Bayern Munich are considering a bid to bring Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic back to the club, according to Sport Bild.

Mandzukic previously left Bayern in 2014 to join Atletico Madrid before moving on to Juventus a year later, but the Serie A champions are considering selling the 33-year-old.

If Bayern do follow up their interest in Mandzukic, they view the Croatian as being able to provide back-up to striker Robert Lewandowski and an option on the wing.

West Ham offered Balotelli on free transfer


West Ham have been offered the chance to sign Mario Balotelli on a free transfer, according to the Daily Mail.

The Hammers are set to miss out on top targets Callum Wilson and Maxi Gomez, but the Italian can be brought in for nothing after leaving Marseille on July 1.

Balotelli hit eight goals in 15 Ligue 1 games for Marseille during a six-month spell at the club last season.

Barca plot move for ex-midfielder Hagi's son


Viitorul Constanta midfielder Ianis Hagi is the subject of interest from Barcelona, according to AS.

The 20-year-old is the son of Gheorghe Hagi, who played at Camp Nou between 1994 and 1996.

Ayew set for permanent Palace move


Crystal Palace are on the verge of signing Swansea striker Jordan Ayew on a permanent deal, according to Sky Sports.

The Ghana international spent last season on loan at Selhurst Park and will complete a medical upon his return from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Atlanta United has signed 18-year-old defender George Campbell to a homegrown player deal. 

Campbell joins a team that currently sits third in the Eastern Conference, six points back of the top of the table with two fewer matches played.

Manchester United should sell wantaway star Paul Pogba, according to former Red Devils midfielder Kleberson.

"It is the right move to sell Paul Pogba, he's a great player and his talent is unbelievable," Kleberson told the Manchester Evening News​.

The Athletic reports that the former MLS star is in line to take over the expansion MLS franchise, which is set to begin play in the league in 2021. 

Barcelona linked with surprise move for Man Utd defender


Manchester United centre-half Victor Lindelof is in the sights of Barcelona after the Catalan club was forced to change their transfer plans.

With Barcelona looking likely to miss out on the signing of Matthijs de Ligt, Mundo Deportivo says they have turned their attention to the Red Devils' Swedish defender and are hoping to open talks this week.

Lindelof, who became a first-choice centre-half at Old Trafford last season, joined United after departing Benfica in 2017 for a £31 million ($38m) fee.


Bruce in contention for Newcastle job


Experienced Premier League manager Steve Bruce is one of the names being considered for the vacant Newcastle United coaching role, according to Sky Sports.

Newcastle-born Bruce, who is currently the boss of Sheffield Wednesday, is in the frame to replace Rafael Benitez despite previously being in charge of the Magpies' bitter rivals Sunderland.

The 58-year-old has also managed Aston Villa, Hull City, Wigan Athletic, Birmingham City, Crystal Palace, Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United in a coaching career that started in 1998.

Atlanta United coach Frank de Boer laughed off suggestions that the club is looking to offload struggling designated player Gonzalo "Pity" Martinez. 

 The 26-year-old attacker made the jump to MLS in January but has struggled to find his top form with the defending MLS champion.

"It’s ridiculous, you know," De Boer said in audio provided by the team.

"We’re just halfway through the season and he’s new. I always say the first six months is the hardest for everyone who comes to a new culture. He has to adapt."

Fiorentina's new look approach is starting to emrge with Dario Benedetto and Sandro Tonali transfer targets for the club, reports

The former has scored 39 goals in 63 games for Boca Juniors since joining in 2016, while 19-year-old Tonali is a target for a number of top clubs in Italy.

The Real Madrid midfielder has been a transfer target for the Serie A club all summer after Bayern Munich chose not to make the Colombian's loan deal permanent.
