Daniel Podence has signed a new contract with Olympiakos after reported interest from clubs in La Liga and the Premier League. Monchengladbach reportedly want a club-record fee for the 22-year-old, who they value at over £43m (€50m). Phil Parkinson has been announced as the new Sunderland manager, following the departure of Jack Ross earlier this month. Parkinson led Bradford City to the League Cup final in 2013 and led Bolton Wanderers to promotion from League One to the Championship in 2017. He resigned as Bolton manager in August owing to their severe financial struggles. In a statement on the Sunderland website, Parkinson said: “It is both a privilege and immense responsibility to be appointed manager of this great club.
