Flamengo fire: Training centre blaze victims named with 10 dead, three injured

<p>The first two survivors, Cauan Emanuel and Francisco Diogo are in stable condition, though are still being monitored for their&nbsp;respiratory tracts.</p> <p>The third player,&nbsp;Jhonata Ventura, is in severe condition and was reported having suffered severe burns on 30% of his body – including that of the face, upper limbs and hands.</p> <p>Flamengo&nbsp;has refrained for making public statements aside from the survivors, and the top directors and president Rodolfo Landim are now on a meeting on how to deal with the crisis.</p>

Victims named in Flamengo fire

The identities of the 10 deceased Flamengo players have now been named, and it has been confirmed that the three survivors have been taken to hospital in Rio.

The club is grieving the loss of those who died

<p>Flamengo president Rodolfo Landim says that the fire which claimed the lives of 10 people at its Rio de Janeiro training base is "certainly the biggest tragedy this club has ever witnessed in its 123 years."</p> <p>The most important thing now is to try to minimize the suffering and pain of these families," he added. <p>The three individuals who were injured in the fire have been given a positive assessment by medical staff.</p> <p>Jonathas Cruz will need further care, but Cauan Emanuel Nunes and Franciso Diogo Bento Alves may be discharged from hospital later today (February 8).</p>
