PSG's famous frontline triumvirate celebrate a goal

Kylian Mbappé Paris Saint-Germain Betting Tips

Kylian Mbappé announced in May that he will extend his tenure with Paris Saint-Germain by signing a three-year extension until 2025. This was a surprise to the football world as it had long been rumored that he would sign with Real Madrid, with serious interest from Premier League contender Chelsea in acquiring the 23-year-old, as well.

Mbappé was fantastic for PSG this season, winning his fourth league title with the Parisians and fifth overall. The forward led Ligue 1 with 28 goals and 17 assists, while adding another six goals and six assists in the Champions League.

The Frenchman is widely considered one of the best footballers in the world, having already won football's biggest prize in 2018 when he scored in the World Cup Final.

Mbappé Staying with PSG

It seemed a foregone conclusion that Mbappé would join Real Madrid as the international juggernaut looks to go younger. However, based on reports, they did not seriously entertain entering the Erling Halaand sweepstakes because they thought they had their man.

Premier League contenders Chelsea were also seriously interested in adding Mbappé during the transfer window, but the 23-year-old turned down the opportunity, stating that he was pleased with PSG.

Real Madrid put in significant bids last summer for the World Cup Winner, potentially up to €222 million, only to be turned down by PSG.

The Parisians do not need the money. PSG wants to win trophies, in particular the Champions League. This was evident when the club signed Neymar for a world record €222 million fee and brought in Lionel Messi last year.

Unfortunately, this combination did not achieve the immediate success PSG hoped for in European competition.

So, why is Mbappé staying in Paris? The money is certainly part of it, as his new deal was rumored to have a €100 million signing bonus and a €500 thousand per-week contract. However, Mbappé has lived in Paris his whole life, outside of the two years he spent playing for AS Monaco.

This new contract certainly shows that he is the star of this team. In Paris, he is the star of the present and future - both for the club and national teams. At Real Madrid, he would be another one of the many “Galácticos.”

There are rumors that Neymar could be sold if the right deal is there, and Messi is 34 and already linked to a move to MLS after this upcoming season.

PSG will be a team built around Mbappé - his team in his home city. He wants to win and would go down in history if he brought the Champions League trophy home. The only French team to win the competition was Marseille, back in the 1992/1993 season.

PSG Betting with Mbappé Returning

PSG have spent billions since its current owners took over in 2011 and have won eight league titles since then, but their ultimate ambition is to win the Champions League.

Mbappé scored the goals when they lost to Real Madrid in the Round of 16. If they can find the right pieces around him, they have the goal scorer needed to win the competition.

That said, Mbappé could still end up in Real Madrid even on a free transfer. He could play out his three-year contract and try to win that first-ever Champions League for PSG, become a club legend, then go to Spain and try to win even more trophies.

The future is far from written for Mbappé.
