Klopp: It felt like Wenger was at Arsenal for 50 years!

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hailed Unai Emery's impact at Arsenal, saying the Spaniard inherited a tough task after what felt like "50 years" of Arsene Wenger's stewardship.

Klopp and Emery are set to lock horns when their sides meet in the Premier League on Saturday.

Liverpool head into the match second in the table and four points above their fourth-placed opponents, who are on a 13-match unbeaten run under Emery's guidance.

Emery succeeded legendary Arsenal boss Wenger at the Emirates Stadium in the summer and Klopp has praised the ex-Sevilla boss for making a strong impression at the club.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday, Klopp said: "It's always been a big challenge for us [against Arsenal]. They are really strong.

"Unai Emery had a big task after what felt like 50 years of Arsene Wenger.

"He has done really well after a tough start. Impressive run."

Wenger was in charge of Arsenal for a near 22-year reign before stepping down at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

Klopp enjoyed a fine record against Wenger as Liverpool manager, winning three and drawing two of their five clashes.

The German's record against Emery, however, is not as strong, losing the only previous meeting between the two as Liverpool were beaten 3-1 by Sevilla in the 2016 Europa League final.

Liverpool travel to Arsenal on the back of a four-match unbeaten streak, winning their last three games in all competitions.
