The news comes a huge relief to the Amakhosi fans, who have watched Meyiwa rise to the top from the club's MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) team.

Chiefs released the following statement on their official website:

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Wiseman Meyiwa is out of ICU. He is stable under the care of specialist’s supervision.

The Club has appreciated all the messages of support and prayers for Meyiwa.

We wish him a speedy recovery.

Meyiwa is the second Chiefs player to be survive a car accident after Lebogang Manyama, who suffered a fractured arm.

It is unclear when Meyiwa will be discharged from hospital, let alone return to the Amakhosi training grounds.

His absence has seen Giovanni Solinas field Andriamirado 'Dax' Andrianarimanana in midfield alongside the likes of Willard Katsande and George Maluleka.
